About The Training.
Balanced dog training in Columbus, OH. Training dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages in obedience and behavior modification. I personally see quite a bit of dog owners out there struggling to fulfill their dogs needs. When dog’s needs are not being fulfilled, that’s when the real problems start. Many owners struggle with the simple things such as getting their dog to walk without pulling them down the street. This breaks my heart because as a result many owners give up walking their beloved pups. Having a dog is supposed to be fun, life changing, and amazing experience. Unfortunately it seems for most owners it causes a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration. Here at Conscious Canine we are dedicated to helping owners and their dogs develop a better relationship and a better life. We will achieve your goals by teaching a solid foundation of the basics for you and your pup to build upon while working through behavioral issues. You will finally be able to have the life you always wanted for your dog, yourself, and your family.
My Journey.
My journey into training all started when I was 18 years old and had just gotten my first two dogs, Kai and Izzy . They were young, hyper, and difficult to control! Trying to find ways to handle their energy led me to finding the dog whisperer, Cesar Millan. He instantly became such an inspiration to me and for the first time I finally found what I was meant to do in life. Although my immaturity and fear of failure got the best of me, I wouldn’t begin my professional journey for another 10 years.
I am now 28 years old and ready to pursue my passion of dog training. The sign to start was unfortunately not the sign I would have hoped for. After meeting my now fiance, buying a house, and owning two dogs Izzy (mine) and Scruff (hers) we decided to visit some local shelters in hopes to find a 3rd dog. Together we found Nyla, our beautiful lab/pit mix who was a little over a year old when we rescued her. Things were great for the first couple of months until one day everything changed for the worst. Izzy and Nyla began to fight. It started very seldom but the frequency increased and as time went on, it got to the point where they could no longer be around each other. They were completely separated for months.
Their fighting created a lot of stress in the house and you could just feel how off the energy was. Neither of the dogs, nor us, deserved to live in a negative environment so I knew it was time to make a change. Although looking back, it was a great experience that really pushed me into learning and studying all about dog training in hopes that my dogs would get along again. I began to learn on my own endlessly by watching videos from amazing trainers on YouTube, following their journeys on Instagram, and reading books non stop. This allowed me to gain a tremendous amount of knowledge. I felt that I was ready to stop watching time fly by, use the inspiration and challenges I was given, and finally enroll in an online dog training course.
Izzy and Nyla are now making great progress! Dogs have always been a HUGE part of my life! They have given and done so much for me. I absolutely love everything they stand for and are capable of. I am eager to do everything in my power to help them and their owners live a more balanced life. I would hate it if someone out there was not aware of the help I am able to give and had to give their dog to a shelter. Or even worse, the dog being euthanized. I started this business with the intention to do everything that I can to help owners and their dogs live a more harmonious, happy, and conscious life together. I hope by sharing my story, it encourages you to step up and make whatever changes that are necessary for you and your dog. Conscious Canine is here to help!
The Pack.
Izzy.
Age - 11 Years
Breed - Border Collie mix
Nicknames - Izabell, Izebella, Shmelz, Melz, Mel Mel, and Shmelly girl.
Favorite Things - Bones, barking, bike rides!
Melz has been with me since she was 8 weeks old and is the love of my life. She has been there for me through everything. Even though she is old, she still loves to run and is full of life.
Scruff.
Age - 6 Years
Breed - Pit mix
Nicknames - Ruff Ruff, Gruff Gruff, Coconut Scruff, and Poopy
Favorite Things - Mommy, cuddles, car rides, off leash exploring, and cats.
Scruff has been with Samantha since he was 3 months old. Their connection is truly unbreakable. Scruff’s personality has always been the reason that he gets along with shy dogs and helps them break out of their shell.
Nyla.
Age - 2
Breed - Lab/pit mix
Nicknames - Niles, Nyla Bean, Beans, and Beanie.
Favorite Things - Fetch, tug, kale, naps, and Coconut Oil
We rescued Nyla when she was a little over a year old. At first she was a little out of control but now thankfully she has turned into an amazing young girl. She has become a great partner and teacher as we train and help other dogs.
